China ShenZhen TV selects Telemetrics Camera Control Solutions for new broadcast facility

Enhanced camera control adds new dimension to new broadcast
ShenZhen TV’s (SZTV) new broadcast facility in GuangDong, China – the largest of its kind in Southern China – has recently installed a complement of Telemetrics trolley systems, control panels, pan/tilt heads and motorised camera elevator systems to enhance its production capabilities with advanced camera robotics systems.
Installed in the “News Studio” by STR International of ShenZhen, the Telemetrics camera robotics enhance the production of the televised news broadcasts with unique camera angles and “operator like” on-air camera moves to provide a realistic and natural feeling.
“ShenZhen TV’s decision to implement Telemetrics’ camera control solutions was driven by its desire to improve production technology and to present the news in a more sophisticated fashion,” said Zhou RenYuan, Technical Engineer for STR. “The Telemetrics camera robotics system presented an ideal solution for our needs because it delivers high performance and quality at a fair price and with excellent support from the manufacturer.”
The 580 square meter News Studio is located on the eighth floor of the new SZTV building and includes a PT-CP-S2 Pan/Tilt Head, a PT-LP-S2 Pan/Tilt head mounted on an EP-PT-S2 Televator for direct shots and a PT-HP-S2 Pan/Tilt head with extended arms option for overhead cameras. The L-shaped Telemetrics Camera Trolley System is 41 metres long and is used with the PT-CP-S2 Pan/Tilt Head to provide a full view of the studio, including audience seating.
According to RenYuan, this is the first time a camera trolley system has been used in any SZTV facility. “The Telemetrics camera trolley system permits a completely different view of the studio and it’s quite revolutionary when compared to the previous stationary scenes,” he said. “Now our camera shots look alive and more realistic.”
In addition to the operator-like smooth movements and ease of use of the Telemetrics camera robotics system. RenYuan also praised Telemetrics’ ability to provide the equipment in a timely manner and their cooperative attitude.
“Telemetrics shipped the custom Camera Trolley System in about 20 days. We are very pleased with their service and response time,” he said.
