Framestore CFC picks up Emmy Awards

The 58th Annual Creative Arts Emmy Awards, held in Los Angeles on August 19th 2006, saw two Framestore CFC projects pick up the coveted awards.
'Walking With Monsters' (U.S. title: Before the Dinosaurs) won the award for 'Outstanding Animated Program'. A commercial for US television, Fed ExStick received the joint award for 'Best Commercial'.
Walking With Monsters continues Framestore CFC's successful series of dinosaur-related programmes that commenced in 1999 with Walking With Dinosaurs. The three 30 minute programmes in Monsters form a prequel, bringing to life the bizarre beasts who roamed the earth millions of years before dinosaurs. The new programmes, which take viewers back 245 to 530 million years ago, feature 29 different CG creatures to be seen in nearly 600 VFX shots.
Mike Milne, Director of Computer Animation at Framestore CFC, joined the production team in accepting the award: “It's really gratifying for the team to get this Emmy because it means that all three of this series - Walking With Dinosaurs, Walking With Beasts, and now Walking With Monsters – have been recognised by the Emmys. It's a wonderful conclusion to the trilogy.”
Walking With Monsters was screened in the UK in the autumn of 2005, and since then the company's longform television team have created the recently aired 'Prehistoric Park' for ITV, and are currently completing work on 'Primaeval', an action-drama series for ITV, to be broadcast in 2007.
Stick – a 45 second spot for FedEx - was rated by AdAge and Campaign as being among the top 5 spots shown during the Super Bowl coverage. Created by BBDO and directed by the Traktor team, Stick features animation and VFX by Framestore NY, including a number of the company's patented prehistoric performers.
Jon Collins, President of Framestore NY, was delighted by the spot's achievement: “To win an Emmy is something special. As ever, the effects work best when there's a great creative idea that is developed by the director and there's collaboration between all parties in trying to achieve the best results. Without a doubt this was true of this spot.”
Framestore CFC has won 12 Emmys since 1996.
