BBC BEGINS FILMING ‘SAVAGE’ NEW SITCOM

FILMING has commenced on BBC One’s newest sitcom series ‘The Savages’ penned by Simon Nye and produced by the award winning team behind ‘Men Behaving Badly’.
Writer Simon Nye said: “This new series is more autobiographical than anything I’ve done. I wrote ‘Men Behaving Badly’ from observation, really when they met me, fans of the show were disappointed to find that I look more like a tired geography teacher than a hard-drinking slacker.”
Nye said that sitcoms about families rarely include young children because of the logistics of filming them, but in ‘The Savages’ the series gets around that problem by having the kids asleep in bed for much of the time.
He added that the series is “about grandparents too, because having children thrusts you into contact with your parents all over gain”.
‘The Savages’ centres on a couple who struggle to remain sane, decent and in love against formidable odds in the shape of their two tiny children, Adam’s father and the destructive pressures of modern life.
Series Producer Sue Vertue has produced ‘Vicar of Dibley’ and ‘Gimme Gimme Gimme’ and the Director is Martin Dennis. Beryl Vertue is Executive Producer.
‘The Savages’ is a Hartswood Films Production for BBC One. (CMcL)
