C5 To Launch In-House Production

Channel 5 has announced that it is to launch an in-house production arm.
The new department, called Channel 5 Productions, will be the first time in the broadcaster’s near 15-year history that it has made its own programmes.
It is believed that about 20 members of staff will be working in the new department.
Like Channel 4, the broadcaster has previously only transmitted programmes made by independent production companies- but now it has announced its first in-house produced series: Marco Pierre White’s Kitchen Wars.
The series will air this summer where the enfant terrible chef will use his culinary eye to sort through hundreds of couples in one of the country’s biggest ever-cooking competitions.
Meanwhile other shows in the pipeline include a documentary with John Barrowman about the return of Dallas and a show with former The X Factor contestants Jedward.
