Sky Australia Expands OmniBus Systems

Australian based Sky Racing has further expanded its OmniBus iTX multi-platform transmission system with the addition of new international channels. This brings the total iTX channel count at Sky Channel in Sydney to nine.
Sky Channel Australia first went live on March 16th, 2010 with an iTX system configured for an initial four television channels, one online and two mobile TV channels.
Carl Petch, Sky Racing Chief Engineer commented: "With our iTX core framework and initial channels in place and on air, the addition of new channels to the iTX modular architecture is very quick and simple. We sourced the hardware locally from HP, and this makes the speed and efficiency of adding new full-function channels to the iTX system dramatically quicker than using legacy video server technology."
Sky's iTX installation is configured with the iTX GFX real-time 3D graphics module, chosen for the television channels to allow the generation of complex, up-to-the-minute graphics in live coverage for a variety of programming including racing coverage.
"Working closely with our partners Quinto Communications and leveraging the highly scalable nature of iTX, we are delighted to see the early expansion of the first iTX system in Australia and are looking forward to continued success for iTX in Australia in 2010," said Fintan McKiernan, Regional Manager for APAC at OmniBus Systems.
OmniBus iTX is the next-generation solution that makes conventional broadcast automation, master control and play-out chain obsolete. Combining and exceeding all the functions of a conventional chain in a single, integrated suite of software applications, iTX is flexible, open and feature-rich, and offers configurable and responsive end-to-end solution for a wide range of operating environments.
