GlobeCast Picks OmniBus iTX for UK

A worldwide content management and delivery company, GlobeCast, has chosen the OmniBus Systems iTX master control and automation platform for its playout centre in London. GlobeCast's installation will be the first iTX installation at a U.K. playout centre, and is set to be on air later this month.
With graphics capabilities for logos and character generation, the iTX platform will be integrated via its API with GlobeCast's global content management system provided by GlobeCast subsidiary NETIA. Expansion of the iTX infrastructure at GlobeCast is already planned, with extra channels launching by the end of 2010.
"iTX appeals to GlobeCast as a flexible and scalable platform," said Peter Elvidge, Head of Media Solutions for GlobeCast.
"Being a leading service provider to broadcasters worldwide requires flexibility and adaptability in all aspects of our operation, and our customers count on GlobeCast to be innovative and reliable. The track record of iTX installations around the world proves its existing capabilities and the product roadmap shows several promising developments that will ensure that we continue to exceed our customers' expectations in the future."
Laura Kirkland, Strategic Account Manager, OmniBus Systems said: "GlobeCast's choice of iTX highlights the game-changing benefits of the platform for sophisticated master control, automation and playout applications," said "In a multi-platform environment where scalability and speed of deployment are vital for success, the iTX platform offers an unparalleled breakthrough in cost benefits, efficiency increases and business flexibility gains."
GlobeCast has been stepping up its media asset management services in recent months, closing agreements with content creators and post-production houses around the world to form a 'digital ecosystem' and interconnecting its playout centres on three continents. The company also offers global distribution of content via satellite and fibre.
OmniBus Systems iTX is a next-generation solution that integrates the conventional broadcast automation, master control and playout chain. Combining and exceeding all the functions of a conventional chain in a single, integrated suite of software applications, iTX is flexible, open and feature-rich, and offers a significantly more configurable and responsive end-to-end solution for a wide range of operating environments.
With market-beating support for SD and HD formats, and an exceptional ability to integrate with third-party systems, iTX delivers the most powerful solution available while significantly reducing the investment required to launch and operate high-quality channels in broadcast, IPTV, mobile TV, disaster recovery and business continuity applications.
