Leading independent production and distribution company, Off the Fence, has announced that it had signed an exclusive output deal with leading giant screen (IMAX) producer, Phil Streather of Principal Large Format (PLF).
Under the terms of the agreement Phil Streather and PLF will be based in OTF's Bristol office and provide exclusive media services to Off the Fence, rolling in current giant screen and other theatrical projects in advanced development as well as generating new projects with Off the Fence. PLF is best known for its multi award winning IMAX 3D film Bugs!. Narrated by Dame Judi Dench Bugs! has won many awards, including a prestigious Panda award at Wildscreen, has grossed over $32m at the world wide box office and is the most successful British theatrical documentary of all time. Ellen Windemuth, Managing Director, Off the Fence said: "Phil Streather is an expert in the complicated process of live action 3D. Combined with his knowledge of the IMAX world and the rapidly emerging Digital 3D market we have great hopes for our future together." Included in the development slate is IMAX 3D feature Flight of the Butterflies which interweaves the stunning natural history story of the epic migration of the monarch butterfly with the scientific detective story of the discovery of their over wintering sites in 1975. Flight of the Butterflies will be directed by Bugs! director Mike Slee and is a co-production with SK Films of Toronto, Canada. Digital 3D feature Great White 3-D is the story of human interaction with Great Whites told through the real life experiences of a fascinating range of characters, including shark attack victims, film-makers and cutting edge scientific researchers. Great White 3-D will be directed by renowned photographer Bob Talbot and is also a co-production with SK Films. Phil Streather commented: "When I visited Ellen’s HQ in Amsterdam and met with Ellen and her senior staff I realized she has managed to create a special environment for good work. I have huge admiration for OTF’s output and the company’s position in the industry and look forward to working closely with Ellen, and Director of Production Joe Kennedy, to build a successful theatrical features division."
