Leitch has announced that Telegenic, a leading OB company in Europe, has purchased VelocityHD HD/SD.
The non-linear editing system will be used in its T8 mobile production facility, one of the first high-definition OB trucks in the UK. VelocityHD combines the innovative Altitude hardware platform with an enhanced version of the acclaimed Velocity software interface, bringing guaranteed, full-quality, real-time editing performance to the HD realm at a remarkable price point. Peter Bates, director of production for Telegenic, said, "We pride ourselves on bringing together exactly the right elements to ensure a seamless production. The VelocityHD fits our philosophy perfectly by making HD non-linear editing as efficient and easy as standard-definition editing." Integrating the innovative new Altitude hardware platform with an enhanced version of the acclaimed Velocity software interface, VelocityHD features full-quality HD playback of two video streams, two dynamic graphics streams, true dual-stream real-time HD transitions and effects, and optional 3D effects with the A3DX(tm) DVE daughtercard. VelocityHD supports 1080i, 1080PsF and 720p frame formats at all common frame rates, with compressed and uncompressed (8-bit and 10-bit) recording and playback, and the flexibility to mix compressed and uncompressed footage within a project. In addition to SMPTE-292 HD-SDI I/O, Altitude also features VGA HD output, enabling HD playback to be viewed on VGA monitors, reducing the need for expensive high-definition displays. HD output is also simultaneously down-converted for monitoring on standard-definition displays. VelocityHD also features outstanding standard-definition editing performance. Dave Dougall, managing director of Leitch Europe, said, "We're pleased that Telegenic has chosen VelocityHD for its HD editing needs. VelocityHD's breakthrough combination of performance, quality, flexibility and affordability is ideal for customers currently using or planning the transition to high-definition video. As the roll out of HD picks up its pace in Europe, our expanded high-definition product line is empowering leading customers like Telegenic in this transition." Founded in 1980, Telegenic has grown through the addition of ever more sophisticated OB units into the leading outside broadcast company in Europe. Telegenic, www.telegenic.co.uk (SP)
