Alchemist Ph.C - HD Enables Omnimago To Deliver Pristine SD And HD Content To Broadcasters Worldwide

Snell & Wilcox has announced that Omnimago HmbH, a leading German provider of professional A/V and post-production services, is using the Alchemist Ph.C - HD motion compensated frame-rate standards converter to ensure high-quality conversion of movies, documentaries, trailers and other media for distribution to the international broadcast market.
The Alchemist Ph.C - HD enables Omnimago to up/down/crossconvert content of the same and different frame rates and the converter's unique processing functionality maintains the crisp images, smooth motion and clean cuts that characterise top-grade broadcast and film content.
Thomas Thoben, Technical Manager at Omnimago, said: "We incorporated the Alchemist Ph.C - HD into our facility because it provides excellent visual results and features a straightforward user interface that's easy to use. We have used Snell & Wilcox conversion equipment for many years now, and our experience working closely with both the company and its technology gave us confidence in adopting the Alchemist Ph.C - HD, which is widely acclaimed across the broadcast industry for its artifact-free conversion."
Omnimago specialises in film transfer, editing, Dolby E sound mixing and file conversion for all common SD, HD and electronic cinema formats. The comapny has built its workflow around the Alchemist Ph.C - HD, using the system to establish and build a competitive advantage in converting SD and HD material for broadcast delivery.
Joe Zaller, Vice President of Corporate Development at Snell & Wilcox, said: "Omnimago always has been a leader in adopting products that meet a high standard of quality and the Alchemist Ph.C - HD enables the company to meet market needs as broadcasters demand delivery of pristine HD programming."
The Snell & Wilcox Alchemist Ph.C - HD motion compensated frame-rate standards converter offers simultaneous SD and HD conversion in its compact 3-RU mainframe.
This one-box approach delivers HD frame-rate conversion between 50Hz and 60Hz HD standards for both 1080i and 720p formats, as well as SD frame-rate conversion between 50Hz and 60Hz material.
The Alchemist Ph.C - HD also provides motion compensated HDTV upconversion, downconversion and crossconversion, making it the most comprehensive conversion solution available in the market.
Alchemist Ph.C - HD also provides co-timed simultaneous SD/HD outputs, each with independent aspect ratio and colour space conversion - a huge benefit for broadcasters wanting to simulcast in both SD and HD. Also new to the system is a seamless timecode conversion option that drastically improves operational efficiency by eliminating the costly and time-consuming use of additional equipment and manual re-editing of timecode information on videotapes. Full support for Dolby E audio eliminates the need for outboard Dolby decoders and encoders, reducing space, setup, and configuration requirements in replication and dubbing operations.
