MainConcept Licence MPEG-2 Codec Technology To On-Air Systems

MainConcept, a world leader in codecs and video technology, has announced that it has licensed its MPEG-2 codec technology to On-Air Systems, an international software developer for broadcasters.
The MPEG encoder and decoder will be included as standard features in all new versions of On-Air Systems’ rapidly evolving ‘K’ Series, including its fourth generation playout system - playKast, and its ingest system Kapture.
On-Air Systems designs its solutions around customer requirements, using the customer workflow as the starting point. By having open platforms and a wider range of codecs, customers have greater choice, and On-Air can implement playout solutions that are compatible to more third party systems. The MainConcept collaboration has allowed the K-Series products to be upgraded from SD to HD ingest and playout without significant development effort.
“MainConcept is an easy company to do business with,” said Mark Errington, CEO and owner of On-Air Systems Limited. “They supplied us with an excellent toolkit that allowed us to complete a rapid development of our software. We wanted to ensure we had the most up to date features available and working with the market leading codec developer as our partner we know we can provide our customers with what they want now and in the future."
"Our co-operation with On-Air Systems allows more and more clients to benefit from MainConcept’s ultra-fast, high-quality MPEG codec technology,” said Markus Moenig, CEO and founder of MainConcept. "We are proud and delighted that On-Air Systems, with its reputation for only accepting the highest quality and efficiency for their products, has chosen MainConcept as its MPEG provider."
On-Air Systems is a leading international supplier of computer-based broadcast automation solutions and delivery services for all types of television channels. With a decade of experience in the development of playout systems, it has an unrivalled knowledge and understanding of a channel’s needs.
