Blake Morrison's Book To Be Immortalised By Number 9 Films |

Shooting has started on 'And When Did You Last See Your Father', based on the award-winning and critically acclaimed book by British author Blake Morrison.
BAFTA-winning director; Anand Tucker (Hilary and Jackie, Shopgirl,) will direct this new feature-length film which stars Colin Firth as Blake Morrison and Jim Broadbent as his father, Arthur.
Produced by Stephen Woolley and Elizabeth Karlsen at Number 9 Films, the film is shooting for seven weeks in London and Derbyshire. The project has been developed by the UK film Council’s Development Fund slate initiative in association with Film4, Intandem Films, EM Media and the Irish Film Board.
Producer Elizabeth Karlsen said: “And When Did You Last See Your Father will be another moving and rewarding experience for audiences, giving a fantastic opportunity for both Colin and Jim to shine. I am also thrilled to have the chance to work with the extraordinarily talented Anand Tucker.”
Channel 4’s Head of Film and Drama, Tessa Ross commented: “I’m delighted that this film has now started shooting – it joins our Film4 slate of literary adaptations, alongside Brick Lane and The Last King of Scotland, as a beautiful translation by David Nicholls of Blake’s much loved book. It’s wonderful to work with Anand Tucker and with Jim Broadbent and Colin Firth and a great team and cast – they look set to make this moving novel into a wonderful film.”
Sally Caplan, Head of the UK Film Council’s Premiere Fund added: “It is exciting to see the crème of British talent from director Anand Tucker through to the internationally known cast and a great writer in David Nicholls all in one film with producers as experienced as Stephen Woolley and Elizabeth Karlsen, plus it will be made entirely in the UK. And for our Development Fund, it's great to see strong projects move forward and get into the marketplace."
The UK Film Council’s Premiere Fund which invests in popular films that offer quality and entertainment to the widest possible audiences both in the UK and worldwide, has awarded £530,000 of National Lottery funding to And When Did You Last See Your Father. Number 9 Films is one of the slate partnerships supported by the Development Fund which aims to broaden the quality, range and ambition of UK film projects and talent being developed and moved into production.
Buena Vista International UK will release the film in the UK; Sony Pictures Classics has acquired North American rights, Icon will release in Australia with Intandem Films handling International Sales.
