Film Council Development Fund invests in trio of films

The Film Council's Development Fund has announced investment of a total of almost £120,000 in the development of three UK-based feature film projects.
'Box Of Delights,' written by Stephen Volk, is set in the snowy English countryside between the wars. Based on John Masefield's classic children's novel, this is a Christmas tale of a young boy's entrance into a magical land of ancient legend and folklore through the discovery of a mysterious puzzle box.
Written by Tim Rose Price ('The Serpent's Kiss,' 'Rapa Nui') and to be directed by Mike Newell, 'Mrs Darwin' tells the story of Charles Darwin's devout wife Emma who fears for her husband's immortal soul as he battles for worldwide recognition of his pioneering theory of evolution.
'The Eustace Diamonds,' produced by Simon Bosanquet and Ileen Maisel for Babyscope Entertainment with Bob Balaban (Chicago Films), is written by Julian Fellowes (2002 Oscar winner for his best original screenplay for 'Gosford Park') and is based on the novel of the same title by Anthony Trollope.
Jenny Borgars, Head of the Development Fund says, "The Development Fund is delighted to be investing in some of the UK's most talented filmmakers working in Britain today. We believe our support will help increase the productivity of fresh, popular and exciting films for broad and diverse audiences, both here and world-wide."
'Mrs Darwin' received £64,833, 'Box Of Delights' - £38,583, and 'the Eustace Diamonds' - £16,433.
