Native Support Of Panasonic DVCPRO HD And DVCPRO50 Codecs Now Available On EVS Servers

EVS Broadcast Equipment has announced that its XT(2) and XS production servers now natively support Panasonic's DVCPRO HD and DVCPRO50 codecs. This additional codec support increases EVS servers' open architecture for HD and SD production while offering the highest level of reliability and speed for live and near-live sport and broadcast entertainment.
Panasonic codec are also supported by all of EVS' functional product line, such as IPDirector (including the software player, and its new timeline editor IPEdit), SpotBox, MulticamLSM, CleanEdit, XFile, as well as Insio, EVS' latest multi-camera ingest software for studio.
This latest development brings EVS equipment ensuring native compatibility with Panasonic's popular P2 HD camcorders.
Pierre L'Hoest, of EVS Broadcast Equipment, said: "At NAB this year, we announced our decision to move forward in the development of the DVCPRO codec on our XT(2) and XS servers which would be released by the end of the year. Thanks to the strong expertise of our R&D team, and the excellent collaboration which we have received from Panasonic technical people, we have been able to achieve record breaking time to bring this new codec available to the market."
Tadao Shimozuru, Director of Professional AV Systems B.U./Panasonic Corporation, said: "We are pleased that all the range of EVS products have supported DVCPRO HD, one of the most popular codec. We are sure that many customers enjoy single format solution from acquisition to play out by this native support."
Latest tests confirm that file transfers can be managed at a rate of up to four times faster than real-time for DVCPRO HD and up to eight times faster than real-time for DVCPRO50.
The native support is compatible with all XT(2) and VS servers already in use, through a software update available since August 13.
DVCPRO HD and 50 ingest and production on EVS XT(2) and XS servers will be presented at IBC 2009 in Amsterdam, from September 11 - 15 at Hall8, B90.
