FremantleMedia Enterprises Takes Stake In Wide-Eyed Entertainment

FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) has announced that they've acquired a stake in independent production company Wide-Eyed Entertainment, set up last year by former Impossible Pictures and BBC executive Jasper James, BBC, and Channel 4 executive producer David McNab and Parule Basu-Barua, former BBC America executive, in association with award-winning CGI house, Red Vision.
FME will have a three-year, first-look development deal with Wide-Eyed Entertainment, which specialises in high-end, graphics-based programming and will distribute the producer's output internationally and manage brand extension initiatives.
Dan Allen, Chief Operating Officer, FremantleMedia Enterprises commented: "Working with Wide-Eyed Entertainment is the perfect opportunity for us to get in on the ground floor with projects that will have great international appeal. We're really pleased to be working with the Wide-Eyed team and to developing more relationships of this nature."
Jasper James, Chief Executive Officer of Wide-Eyed, added: "We've got big ideas but at this stage we're still a small company. The partnership with FremantleMedia is all about having a global presence and having the support to realise our inner greatness - after all FremantleMedia has made a big success out of every programme I've done with them in the past."
Core output from Wide-Eyed is CGI-based factual and docu-drama programming, which extends from the senior execs' expertise in the area including James' background as producer and director of the Bafta-winning Walking with Dinosaurs and McNab's experience as exec producer on the multi-award winning CGI house whose credits include BBC's Battlefield and ITV's Headcases.
