Sony Wins Two TIPA Awards For Digital Imagery Products

Sony digital imaging innovation has been recognised by the judges of this year's TIPA (Technical Image Press Association) Awards.
The editorial panel of Europe's most prestigious photo industry awards named the compact a200 'Best Entry-level D-SLR in Europe'.
The judging citation stated: "Easy to use, easy to carry and offered at a very attractive price with its 18-70mm zoom lens, the Sony a200 is a dream camera for beginners who want to start enjoying all the benefits of D-SLR photography. Its 10.2 megapixel sensor delivers top quality images up to ISO 400 and beyond, and the autofocus system is fast and accurate. The large LCD screen gives a clear, bright display when reviewing images, and both the in-camera image stabilisation and the anti-dust system are very effective in use. A superb, low-cost camera that's easy to use, and a worthy winner of this award."
The a200 offers first-time digital SLR buyers an ideal balance of imaging quality and powerful creative features in a compact, easy-to-use package. The camera's 10.2 effective megapixel CCD sensor is augmented by a powerful BIONZ processor for detail-packed, low-noise images at high-sensitivity settings up to ISO 3200. Other key features include fast, accurate autofocus and Super SteadyShot image stabilisation that provides up to 3.5 stops anti-shake performance with all a lenses.
Meanwhile, the DPF-V900/V700 digital photo frame was awarded this year's 'Best Photo Frame in Europe'. The judging citation stated:
"The Sony digital photo frames DPF-V900 (9-inch display) and DPF-V700 (7-inch display) offer WVGA resolution (800x480 pixels) along with 15:9 aspect-ratio screens. Sony's BIONZ processor with face detection technology allows the rapid display of large files, and also provides image corrections like focus enhancement, red-eye reduction and exposure adjustment. Digital images can be loaded onto the internal memory from various types of memory cards or via the USB cable from a PC or camera. The DPF-V900 and DPF-V700 digital photo frames support JPEG, TIFF, BMP and Sony RAW image file formats, and functions can be managed remotely with the included controller."
Available in 9-inch and 7-inch screen sizes, the DPF-V series digital photo frames by Sony blend elegant design with superb HD image quality and fun, convenient viewing options. Up-to-the-minute styling is complemented by advanced features like an orientation sensor that automatically 'flips' images for correct viewing when the frame is positioned in either landscape or portrait positions.
Sony has also won a third TIPA Award this year. The Sony Company Picture Station won the title 'Best Photo Kiosk in Europe'.
TIPA (Technical Image Press Association) was founded in 1991 as an independent, non-profit Association of European photo and imaging magazines. With 27 member magazines from 11 countries, TIPA is the largest photo and imaging press association in Europe.
