RTBF Chooses Dalet Enterprise Edition

Dalet Digital Media Systems have announced that Radio Télévision Belge Francophone (RTBF) has chosen Dalet Enterprise Edition as its Digital Asset Management platform so as to optimize the digitization of its radio and television operations.
Dalet Enterprise Edition will be used to index, catalogue and harmonize content in this multiuser, multiplatform environment.
This deployment is part of the NUMPROD project, which targets the overall digitization of the French-speaking public broadcaster of Belgium.
Cécile Gonfroid, Director of TV Production at the Radio Télévision Belge Francophone said: "As part of its strategic NUMPROD project, the RTBF has chosen Dalet as its Digital Asset Management platform. This priority project will ensure our transition to a tapeless environment, but also provide the RTBF with a multiplatform content distribution platform.
"Dalet meets the criteria that RTBF was seeking in terms of content management, media essence and metadata management and provides a flexible, innovative platform."
Stéphane Schlayen, Chief Operating Officer of Dalet, said: "The choice of the RTBF proves the relevance that Dalet tools have for large public broadcasters. Because it is designed as a modular system, Dalet Enterprise Edition provides both a production and integration platform and, as such, simplifies the deployment of large scale, enterprise projects."
At the RTBF, Dalet Enterprise Edition will act both as a newsroom computer system and as a digital asset management platform. Journalists and producers will have access to all available information sources - agency wire feeds as well as video sources - so as to prepare scripts, rundowns and stories for their shows and newscasts.
The Dalet Enterprise Edition Application Programming Interface (API) as well as a set of MOS gateways will facilitate the integration of this editorial platform with a number of third party systems, including EVS ingest and playout servers, ORAD computer graphics, AVID non-linear editing systems and a FrontPorch Digital archiving platform.
Two distinct phases are planned for implementation: once a proof of concept finalized and validated, a total of 300 Dalet workstations will be deployed across RTBF facilities.
The RTBF is a member of the European Broadcasting Union, a partner of TV5, Arte and Euronews, and it operates six radio channels and three television stations. Further information is available at: www.rtbf.be.
