Panther Showcase Impressive Products At Broadcast Live & Video Forum

Panther (exhibiting with Ortus, Stand F20) has an impressive range of products on display on its stand.
These include the Multi Mount system, the smallest location light kit on the market in the Romy 100, and the completely digital Trixy remote head.
Starting with the extremely stable Multi Mount, the unit carries 80kg and is said to be ideal when it comes to mounting cameras, fluid and remote-heads, lights or other accessories on smooth surfaces. By the clever design of three small suction pads (instead of the standard one big cup) the Multi Mount only requires minimum space. Rods, clamps and suction pads are all offered as single modules now, greatly expanding the possible camera positioning available to encompass multipart tricky surfaces (cubes etc) while still holding the payload. Further modules rise the payload of the Multi Mount and enhance the variety of combinations even more, allowing for the mounting of camera and lighting at the same time, for instance.
The Romy 100 Set Light is aimed at the growing professional DV market, allowing for small details, interviews and pack shots to be lit quickly and inexpensively. Fully loaded in a compact bag the entire set weighs in at about 8kg and includes 3x Romy 100W lights with diffusion filter, transformer, 4-leaf barn door, stand, set gel foils and all necessary cables. It can also be purchased as standalone unit.
As to the Trixy remote head, so far existing remote heads have come with a bundle of cables - on the Trixy only one single cable neatly provides the head with all necessary controls, signal and power. It weighs in at a mere 6kg, and the three axis Trixy version carries as much camera load as 15kg.
The way of lens controlling is totally independent from the lens brand. External motors will drive zoom, focus and iris of all known manufacturers, and including lens control all motors are controlled via CAN bus. The biggest improvement in the Trixy design, however, are the slip rings allowing unlimited movements in all three axis. Till today the operator had to watch the remote head so that too many movements in one direction would not cause cable spaghetti. This is no longer an issue with the Trixy - which makes it a clear winner when it comes to live production.
