Omnitek To Exhibit Latest Version Of Award Winning Products

Innovative test and measurement manufacturer OmniTek will be showing the latest version of its award-winning TQ, XR and LAB products on booth 6.300 at IBC 2007.
The new versions of the OmniTek TQ and XR waveform monitors feature comprehensive Dolby E metadata and enhanced audio PPM monitoring options, while gamut monitoring and a range of enhancements to the video/audio status and error logging facilities have been introduced to all three products. Also added across the range is the option for full CEA-708-B closed-caption decoding with XML data logging. Other new features include the option to show safe action and safe title cages on the Mini-Pic display and support for XYZ format on ‘Dual Link’ versions of the XR waveform monitor.
The Gamut window that has been added to all three products displays bar graphs of the user’s selection of colour components, indicating the range of values encompassed in the current frame. Where these values go outside specified limits is shown both graphically and through figures giving the percentage of pixels that exceed the specified limits.
For easier viewing, the Video Status and Audio Status displays now list the various items that are monitored in a hierarchy, the sections of which can be clicked open or click shut at will. Users can also apply a filter to limit the aspects of the video that are monitored to just the ones that are of interest to the user. In addition, OmniTek has introduced a ‘traffic light’ system to both the Event Logging and these Status displays. The traffic lights in the Event Logging give an immediate ‘Pass’/’Fail’ indication. The ones in the Status display allow you to see where errors are occurring in a section of the hierarchy that is currently closed up, by placing a red marker against the section heading. It is then an easy task to home in on the actual error.
To assist North American broadcasters with compliance monitoring, a full CEA-708-B closed-caption decoding package is now available as an option on XR, TQ and LAB monitors. This package checks the validity of all the 708 data embedded in an SDI signal, and also offers the capability for saving the data packets to a time-stamped XML file. This package complements the existing CEA-608-B 'line 21' and World System Teletext caption decoders that are already present in the OmniTek systems.
Also demonstrated at IBC 2007 will be a new eye and jitter module. This has been designed for compatibility with all the current and emerging serial digital video formats, and provides a wide range of analysis capabilities including high-resolution colour-mapped eye diagrams, FFT jitter spectrum analysis, cable length and jitter waveform displays. Mike Hodson commented: “Our new eye and jitter module represents the kind of market-leading feature that the broadcast industry has come to expect from OmniTek.
