               Skillset Film Skills Fund Success
Cyfle’s first successful bid for Skillset funding towards four full time film trainees is set to start in September.
The Skillset Film Skills Fund is designed to develop film making talent in Wales and the UK, and will assist Cyfle, the Welsh training provider for tv, film and intetractive media, to address this need.
“We are thrilled to have been successful in obtaining financial support from Skillset’s Film Skills Fund,” said Cyfle’s newly appointed Chief Executive Officer, Iona Williams. “This is a ‘first’ for us, and with match funding from S4C, it enables us to deliver quality vocational training that will enhance the skills base of our emerging film industry in Wales and the UK. Trainees will have the opportunity to experience working practices on big budget film productions throughout the UK.”
Gwawr Hughes, Director of Skillset Cymru, is also delighted with Cyfle’s innovative bid. “The Skillset Film Skills Fund channels investment through training providers to develop, deliver or facilitate film specific training and we are extremely pleased to be supporting Cyfle’s new entrants training scheme this year,” explained Gwawr, from the Sector Skills Council for the Audio Visual Industries. “There is an increased demand for film making talent in Wales and we hope that this scheme will go some way towards addressing this issue.”
Cyfle will be recruiting for the twelve month scheme in June.
