John Burman Appointed Director Of Development

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the appointment of John Burman, formerly International General Manager of The Hollywood Reporter, as Director of Development at its New York headquarters.
In his new position, Burman will be responsible for securing new sponsorships for the International Academy worldwide and will also be working with current and existing sponsors on the Academy initiatives they support such as International Academy Day, The International Emmy World Television Festival and The International Emmy Awards Gala.
"I am looking forward to John's active involvement in the ongoing growth of the Academy worldwide," said Camille Bidermann-Roizen, Senior VP & Executive Director of The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. His unique expertise in international television will be a great asset for developing new strategic partnerships."

Prior to joining the Academy, John Burman was The Hollywood Reporter's International General Manager in Los Angeles, and additionally served as Executive Director for Star Power and Director Power surveys since 1997. Burman held various international-related editorial roles for The Hollywood Reporter, including International Editor and International News Editor.
He has also been involved as an editor and reporter for the trade paper's satellite editions at the Festival de Cannes and the American Film Market. Burman graduated with a degree in journalism from the University of Southern California.
The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is the largest organization of global broadcasters, with over 550 members from nearly 70 countries and over 500 companies.
The Academy was chartered with a mission to recognize excellence in television programming produced outside of the United States. The Academy is a unique, independent organization including the world's top television and media leaders who come together to exchange ideas, discuss common issues and promote new strategies for the future development of quality global television programming.
Every year the Academy presents the International Emmy Awards, in New York in November and the International Interactive Emmy Awards, at MIPTV, in April in France.
