QI Series 1 DVD Gets The Evolutions Treatment

Evolutions, the largest independently owned post production facility in Soho, has announced that they have completed the graphics, authoring work and disc design for the highly-anticipated release of QI Series 1 on DVD.
Owing to a now world famous petition, the first series (A Quite Interesting talkbackTHAMES production) was released by 2 Entertain on DVD on November 6 and includes the original unbroadcast pilot, out takes and a clever interactive feature.
Evolution’s DVD department spent three months on the project working alongside the programme makers, talkbackTHAMES and QI Limited.
The evocative menu, designed by Evolution’s graphic designer Cat Middle, features animations of objects that start with the letter ‘A’, as do all the questions in series 1.
To match the style of the programme the DVD breaks the mould and allows viewers to stop the DVD whilst in play mode and find facts about the subject being questioned. This concept was achieved by the Evolutions team, and in particular author Tony Balogun, using some intricate DVD authoring methods.
Evolutions Head of DVD Andy Butlin said: “The joint team of Evolutions, talkbackTHAMES and QI Limited have created what we feel is an innovative and stylised DVD that delivers the look and feel of the popular programme to its fans.”
This first series of the ground-breaking QI programme won Stephen Fry the Golden Rose of Montreux for the world's best game-show host and is the most popular programme of its kind on BBC4.
It's a 26-year project, each series dealing with a different letter of the alphabet, and this is the one that started it all off.
The friendliest show on British TV it is graced by the cream of world-class comedy talent including Bill Bailey, Hugh Laurie, Rich Hall, Jo Brand, Meera Syall, Rob Brydon, Jeremy Clarkson, Jimmy Carr, Phill Jupitus, Sean Lock, Clive Anderson, Danny Baker, John Sessions, Jeremy Hardy, Linda Smith and Dave Gorman.
