ATG Broadcast announces Asian partnership

ATG Broadcast, a leading UK-based international systems integrator, has announced a partnership with Malaysian integrator Digistar Corporation, headquartered in Kuala Lumpur. The two companies will offer a combined service to television networks and production facilities in the Asia-Pacific region.
ATG and Digistar recently co-operated closely on the construction of the new 65-channel ASTRO Broadcast Centre in Cyberjaya, Malaysia. ATG engineers designed all the broadcast areas including satellite downlinking, 50 incoming lines, tape ingest, a compliance editing and versioning area, a multi-channel transmission area and reactive transmission suites for locally originated channels plus an MCR capable of monitoring up to 96 output channels. Digistar engineers and wiremen then installed the systems and assisted the ATG engineers with testing and commissioning.
ATG's partnership choice was based on Digistar's proven competence and experience. In 2005, Digistar completed a TV news automation project for RTM, the Malaysian government broadcaster. This is currently the largest news automation installation in the entire region.
Alan Pimm, ATG Broadcast Sales Director, commented: "We are delighted to enter into a partnership with Digistar. The combination of ATG's world-class engineering design and project-management skills plus Digistar's Asia-based engineers and wiremen has delivered the ASTRO Broadcast Centre project at a much lower cost than would have been possible with a traditional turnkey solution resourced solely from the UK."
Lee Wah Chong, Digistar Managing Director, added: "We were very pleased to have worked with ATG on such a high-profile project. Our engineers have gained a great deal of valuable experience that we can now offer to other broadcasters in the Asia-Pacific region."
