Skillset's National Skills Day returns for second year
For the second year running the audio visual industries are staging National Skills Day to help focus attention on the importance of skills development.
National Skills Day 2006 will take place on Thursday May 25 and will see companies across the broadcast, film and interactive media sectors giving staff the opportunity to update and improve a variety of skills.
Skillset, the Sector Skills Council for the audio visual industries, has joined forces with Broadcast, BBC, ITV, Channel 4, five, BSkyB, Pact and BECTU to raise awareness of the importance of skills development and career progression to the future of the industry.
Organisations across the industry are implementing initiatives for National Skills Day. For example, Channel 4 are focusing on new media and running learning sessions on blogging, the effect of new media on news, web design and digital editing. ITV and BECTU are running workshops on personal development and releasing your potential and creative writing as well as launching job swap and mentoring opportunities.
