PRODUCTION HOUSES RECEIVE FILM COUNCIL BOOST
THE FILM Council are to reinvest a share of their own revenues from films back into independent production companies.
The Film Council, which went ‘live’ recently have set up this initiative with the aim of helping to build a sustainable local film industry throughout the UK.
The boost will come from films backed through the Council’s main fund for commercially orientated projects, the annual £10 million Premiere Fund, and the £5 million New Cinema Fund, their fund for lower budget projects.
The money, which will be allocated on a confidential basis, will be given to production companies for use in pre-approved areas including future projects, training and business development. The council also aims to share rights with production companies so that they can build up libraries or shares in libraries.
