dB Broadcast chooses Calrec digital consoles for Jordan's new TV station

dB Broadcast, the leading UK systems' integrator and the company responsible for the multi-million pounds technical infrastructure of ATV, Jordan's new independent TV station, has chosen three Calrec Zeta digital audio consoles for the project.
Each of the consoles is equipped with 32 faders and 96 input channels and Calrec says it has now sold six Zeta consoles into the Middle East in the past 18 months. As well as the three to ATV, there have been one to JRTV in Amman and two to Al Jazeera in Qatar.
Tom Swan, dB's Sales and Marketing Director, commented on the choice of Calrec for ATV: "The company focuses exclusively on broadcast. Consequently, it has a deep understanding of the ergonomic and system specifications required for modern broadcast production. Calrec also has a reputation for reliability and provides very good value for money."
Talking about the decision to go digital, Tom Swan said: "Digital is a more future-proof standard and gives considerably more flexibility, which is essential for a new TV station. From a systems integration point of view, there is no need for external sample rate converters and there can be a mix of analogue and digital inputs without the need for external converters. A digital desk is easier to cable because inputs and outputs are assignable, therefore there is no need to go via Krone, as is necessary with analogue desks.
"A digital desk may be more expensive but the overall cost, including installation, is less," concluded Tom Swan.
