NTL STAFF SEEK FAIRER PAY STRUCTURE

A SURVEY of BECTU members at NTL has revealed that over 66 per cent are concerned about pay differentials.
The Union conducted the survey after NTL signed a new recognition agreement earlier this year. NTL members placed issues regarding fairness of pay higher than long working hours or overtime rates, which were thought to be problems by 40 per cent of those surveyed.
David Beavers, of BECTU, said: “We have a good relationship with the company, the aim for us is to do the best for members. Some employers may become hostile when dealing with these issues but we have a co-operative relationship with NTL and find them helpful. We will factor the responses and the feelings received from the survey into our discussions with NTL.”
Union officials are hoping to put the concerns of NTL staff directly to the company’s management.
Results of the survey are being sent to NTL staff over the next week, with an invitation to join BECTU.
