Award nominations for MediaHYPERIUM and Pyramix

MediaHYPERIUM studios, well known as one of the top studios in the US for SA-CD and surround sound productions, has been nominated twice at the 2005 Surround Music Awards for 2 SA-CD productions: Willy Porter: Willy Porter and Ray Charles: Genius Loves Company.
Studio owner Herbert Waltl said: “This is amazing, the awards and nominations keep rolling in and rolling in and rolling in!”
He explained: “The stereo and surround mixes of this SA-CD are completely new mixes derived from the original multi-track masters. To achieve the highest audio quality, the recordings have been mixed at MediaHYPERIUM studios on an API Vision console, which has been specially designed for surround mixing and features a fully discrete signal path including discrete multi-channel panning. A DCS 954 analog to digital converter has been used to create the DSD files and recorded using Merging Technologies’ Pyramix system. To keep the integrity of the pure DSD quality, all further postproductions were controlled with the Pyramix, including the mastering which has been done completely in the DSD/DXD domain. We are Philips’ reference studios for SA-CD productions in North America and we use only Pyramix systems for all our DSD productions.”
Herbert Waltl was one of the first professional DVD producers, creating DVD video content for Philips' key modules even before the format was established and introduced in the market. He produced the first 5.1 surround mix in Los Angeles for PKM and Philips Research as well as the first 16track DSD recording. He was nominated for a Grammy in 2004 for Best Jazz Instrumental Album for Chick Corea's Rendezvous in New York and in 2005 for Album of the Year and Best Surround Sound Album, both for Ray Charles: Genius Loves Company.
Many of the studio’s productions have become reference discs for the SA-CD community, and several have been nominated for Best Surround Mix. In 2003, mH studios won the DVD Entertainment Award for "Best DVD-Video Music (Miles Davis)" and the VSDA DVD Technical Awards.
