GRASS VALLEY GROUP KALYPSO IN ABU DHABI

FOLLOWING last year’s successful installation of two Kalypso Video Production Centre systems, United Arab Emirates broadcasters, Abu Dhabi Television, have ordered a further Kalypso system from the Grass Valley Group.
Abu Dhabi Television plan to use the latest unit, which is to be installed later this year, in their main news centre to produce live financial news and current affairs programming.
Derek Holland, head of broadcast and IT for Abu Dhabi Televison said: “We have been very pleased with the extra functionality our existing Kalypsos have given us and so opting for another system was a natural progression. The system’s key benefits are its reliability, ease of operation, and, in particular, its broad range of features. As the user interfaces on Grass Valley vision mixers are consistent in style throughout the range, operators familiar with Grass Valley Group solutions, as most of ours are, find learning how to use the Kalypso relatively simple.
Last year, the Kalypso system played a critical role in an extensive infrastructure upgrade at Abu Dhabi Televison with one device installed in a brand new sports channel studio and the other in a new news studio at the station.
The Kalypso family of switchers combines switching and powerful mix/effects (M/E) capabilities with an open, networked architecture that offers new degrees of operational integration.
The Kalypso Video Production Centre offers up to 80 inputs (video or key) and 48 outputs, built in DVE channels, still store with animation capability and device control along with fingertip control of a number of previously remote operations to streamline workflow. (GB)
