DISCREET DELIVER ON THEIR PROMISES

AT NAB Discreet will demonstrate on screen, on air, and on line content creation solutions for broadcast, post-production, games, animation and web media markets.
Pleased with their solid track record of delivering on time, Discreet will focus on their wide range of interoperating workflow and software solutions for workflow integration. They will be illustrating their future plans and demonstrating the strong line-up of 3D, post, NLE, broadcast, compositing and Web solutions currently in place.
Among the products Discreet will showcase are: frost 2.5, backdraft 4.6, smoke/fire 4.5, edit 6, 3ds max 4, inferno 4.5 and flame/flint 7.5.
Now shipping is frost 2.5 is Discreet’s integrated real-time 3D graphics creation, finishing and on-air delivery system for television production. The latest release’s new features include integration with 3ds max new Design Templates to aid in the developing of unique on-air graphics.
Discreet backdraft 4.6 offers broadcast, film and video post-production companies savings in productivity and efficiency with VTR emulation capabilities. backdraft provides real time I/O capabilities, captures and outputs video and audio to and from VTR, supports EDL capture and assembly, and uses VTRs as archiving devices for video resolutions. New telecine support creates a seamless flow between inferno, flame, flint, fire, smoke and traditional telecine suites.
The new releases include of smoke/fire 4.5 has new support for SGI Octane 2 platform for affordable, flexible HD, DTV and 601projects.
The latest version of edit 6 includes advanced support for jobnet, Discreet’s NT-based real-time workgroup Storage Area Network (SAN) solution that enables sharing of media assets. This version also has embedded content creation, encoding and web streaming capabilities with support for popular codecs. Background distributed encoding offers the ability to produce video into many streaming formats for a range of data rates. Offering enhanced vertical compositing for sophisticated, multi-layered effects, edit 6 has multicam support, and desktop integration with combustion.
Discreet 3ds max 4 now ships, with several new features such as a history independent IK solver, skinning tools. Render Elements adds further integration with combustion and improves the production pipeline, while the addition of ‘havok’ offers an advanced dynamics solver plug-in for 3dsmax 4.
The latest inferno 4.5 and flame/flint 7.5 ships with new features that include support for SGI Octane platform configurations.
