Z-Link enables BBC coverage of Boscastle floods
On Monday August 16 2004 residents in the north Cornwall village of Boscastle clambered to safety as flash floods devastated the area.
BBC news was there to cover the disastrous scene of cars floating down the street and properties being destroyed, with Cove Broadcast’s Z-Link playing a vital role in the broadcast, operating all day in extreme weather conditions to provide live news feeds for various channels.
The BBC use the hybrid power version of Z-Link in association with their Sony DSR 570 camera systems, while a digital link is maintained from the camera to the multiplexer providing clean pictures free of encoding artefacts.
