Net Insight Introduces Zyntai TimeNode Access

Net Insight has unveiled Zyntai TimeNode Access, a compact, access‑optimised PTP Grandmaster designed to provide robust timing at distributed edge sites over existing packet networks.

Aimed at 5G, media, power and other mission‑critical environments, it combines local GNSS with securely delivered network time and does not require the access network to be PTP‑aware.

Many mobile and critical infrastructure operators rely on leased, third‑party or non‑PTP‑aware transport, making traditional network‑based GNSS back‑up expensive or unfeasible. Zyntai TimeNode Access addresses this by transporting secure, precise time across current packet infrastructure and establishing standards‑based PTP locally at the edge, bolstering GNSS resilience without re‑engineering the access layer.

The new unit extends Net Insight’s Zyntai portfolio with an access‑focused platform suitable for far denser distributed roll‑outs, widening where the Resilient Time Platform can be deployed across mobile, media, power and other critical networks.

Key capabilities include four Time Transfer sessions with regional routing, multi‑link synchronisation, and TLS/AES encryption and authentication. Multi‑constellation GNSS is supported across the range, with the TN2020M adding L1/L5 multiband reception, OSNMA authentication, jamming detection, and advanced spoofing detection and mitigation. The platform can serve up to 512 PTP clients at full message rate and run multiple profiles concurrently, supporting ITU‑T telecom PTP profiles as well as SMPTE ST 2059‑2, AES67, IEEE C37.238 and IEC 61850‑9‑3 for telecom, media and power use cases.

Connectivity and timing interfaces span 10G/GbE, SyncE, PPS, 10 MHz and NTP. Hardware is access‑optimised with passive cooling, dual DC input and PoE Type 3 in a compact 40 × 219 × 181 mm enclosure. Integration with Zyntai Director gives centralised visibility of timing sources, synchronisation status and network timing performance across sites, supporting SLA‑based operations.

Engineered for scale, Zyntai TimeNode Access can be deployed in tens of thousands of sites and managed via a single orchestration system, reducing manual configuration and enabling timing to be run as a network‑wide service. Two models are offered: TN2020 for broad, cost‑efficient access deployments, and TN2020M for locations that require enhanced local GNSS robustness and assurance. Both share the same network‑based timing architecture, allowing operators to select the appropriate level of GNSS capability per site. Together, they extend the Resilient Time Platform to the access edge and let operators match network‑delivered timing with local GNSS to meet specific resilience requirements.
