LTN And Appear Partner To Deliver Integrated IP Solution

LTN and Appear have announced a collaboration aimed at delivering an integrated solution for premium live event contribution and distribution.

The partnership combines Appear's Appear X Platform with LTN's fully managed global IP network, creating a unified system designed to support large-scale live sports and event broadcasting.

Malik Khan said: "The satellite-to-IP transition is no longer theoretical. Broadcasters are operating IP at scale today. By combining Appear's best-in-class encoding with LTN's fully managed global network, we're delivering the infrastructure and execution layer required to power that shift."

As the broadcast industry increasingly moves from evaluating IP technologies to deploying them at scale, companies say customers now require more than just transport capabilities. Reliability, operational transparency, orchestration and service assurance are becoming critical for managing complex live production environments.

Through the partnership, Appear's platform will provide high-density encoding and decoding supporting formats such as JPEG XS, JPEG 2000, AVC, HEVC and ST 2110 workflows. These capabilities are widely used across Tier-1 broadcast and telecommunications environments. When integrated into LTN's purpose-built IP backbone, feeds generated through the platform can be transported securely and redundantly to destinations worldwide.

In addition to contribution, LTN's network will enable global distribution of those feeds, adding features including point-to-multipoint delivery, conditional access, rights management, multi-language versioning, graphics insertion and metadata enrichment. The companies say these capabilities are designed to support monetisation across linear television, OTT services and FAST streaming platforms.

The combined offering is designed to support a range of production workflows, including onsite production, REMI models, centralised production and hybrid OTT distribution. According to the companies, this approach aims to reduce operational complexity while accelerating time-to-air for broadcasters and content providers.

Ed McGivern said: "Appear's technology is trusted by the world's most demanding live productions. Integrating the X Platform within the LTN Network extends that performance across a managed, global distribution backbone — enabling customers to scale with confidence."

The companies said they will jointly target broadcasters, sports leagues, OTT platforms and service providers looking to transition from legacy distribution models to scalable IP-native infrastructure.
