Intesis Adds KNX Secure Gateways

News Image
Intesis, part of HMS Networks, has broadened its KNX Secure line with what it says are the first gateways to enable secure integration of Mitsubishi Electric HVAC equipment into KNX Secure building automation.

The range covers Ecodan air-to-water heat pumps, multiple air-conditioning families and Lossnay ventilation units, reflecting growing demand for cyber-secure building controls.

The update comes as Europe tightens cybersecurity rules through initiatives such as the Cyber Resilience Act, which require connected products to be secure by design, resilient and compliant throughout their lifecycle.

The company said feedback from KNX professionals, system integrators and manufacturers has been consistent: "We need secure HVAC integration options that are standards-based, practical to deploy, and ready for upcoming regulations."

The new KNX Data Secure gateways support:
- Mitsubishi Electric Ecodan air-to-water heat pumps
- Mitsubishi Electric AC systems, including Domestic, Mr. Slim and City Multi
- Lossnay ventilation systems

All integrations use KNX Data Secure for encrypted communication aligned with current and forthcoming European cybersecurity requirements. The additions complement Intesis’s universal IR-to-KNX Secure gateway, offering a more complete route to secure HVAC integration in KNX projects.

Configuration follows standard KNX workflows in ETS. The gateways expose advanced HVAC signals for full monitoring and control, and include binary inputs to connect energy meters, window contacts, occupancy sensors and other digital signals—enabling practical energy-efficiency strategies on site.

Typical use cases include:
- Secure HVAC integration in residential buildings
- Retail and hospitality projects with multi‑zone AC control
- Energy‑efficient heat pump control in KNX Secure environments
- Projects where cybersecurity compliance is a formal requirement

With HVAC among the most connected and business‑critical systems in buildings, insecure integration now presents technical, legal and commercial risks. Secure‑by‑design gateways help system integrators deliver future‑proof installations, enable KNX and building‑automation manufacturers to expand secure portfolios, and allow HVAC vendors to participate in KNX Secure projects without internal development.

Intesis said the launches reinforce its commitment to standards‑based, secure building automation and support the sector’s transition to cybersecurity‑ready architectures.
