BBC Appoints New Group Chief Financial Officer

The BBC has appointed Bérangère Michel as its new Group Chief Financial Officer, bringing extensive experience from senior roles at the John Lewis Partnership and Royal Mail Group.

Michel spent 16 years at the John Lewis Partnership, serving as Chief Financial Officer, Customer Service Executive Director, Operations Director, and Finance & Strategy Director. Prior to that, she held a variety of finance, change, and strategy roles at the Royal Mail Group, including Finance Director of its property division.

In her expanded role at the BBC, Michel will oversee the Group's overall financial strategy, covering BBC Public Service, BBC Studios, and the broadcaster’s commercial subsidiaries. She will play a key leadership role, sitting on both the Executive Committee and, for the first time, the BBC Board. The appointment is intended to strengthen financial leadership, support the organisation's transformation, and optimise the use of licence fee and commercial revenues. Michel will report directly to Director-General Tim Davie and will take up the post in early January.
