BBC Appoints Juliet Njeri As Regional Director For Africa
The BBC has named Juliet Njeri as its new Regional Director for Africa, with the role based at the broadcaster's regional hub in Nairobi, Kenya.
In her new position, Njeri will oversee both the BBC's editorial output and operational activities across the continent. The Regional Director role carries responsibility for driving the BBC’s strategic priorities in Africa and expanding opportunities for audience growth.
The appointment follows the BBC's recent global restructure, which established six regional director roles to strengthen how the organisation operates internationally.
As Regional Director for Africa, Njeri will manage the eleven African language services under the BBC World Service, along with English for Africa.
Jonathan Munro, Deputy CEO and Global Director, BBC News, said: "We're reshaping our global operations to enhance how we deliver for audiences wherever they are around the world and to reach more people with trusted news.
"Strong leadership is critical to our transformation plan so I'm thrilled to have appointed Juliet Njeri as the Regional Director for Africa. Juliet has a wealth of regional expertise and market insight alongside a distinguished career in journalism. I look forward to working closely with her as we build on our offer for audiences across Africa."
Juliet Njeri, Regional Director, Africa, said: "I'm delighted to be appointed Regional Director for Africa and look forward to leading our talented teams across the continent. As well as high quality journalism, Africa has an abundance of rich and diverse storytelling that we want to bring to audiences across the region and around the world. We take this responsibility very seriously and will deliver news that informs and inspires audiences globally."
In addition to her editorial leadership, Njeri will be responsible for ensuring regulatory and editorial compliance. She will also lead a cross-functional leadership team, bringing together editorial leaders with key support functions including business operations, HR and finance.
