BBC Appoints New Head Of Storyville

The BBC has appointed Nevine Mabro as the new Head of Storyville.

Nevine is an award-winning documentary commissioner, executive producer and journalist with over 25 years’ experience in world news and documentaries.

She joins BBC Storyville from Channel 4 where she was a commissioning editor specialising in international documentaries and current affairs. The films she has commissioned and exec produced have won a host of prestigious awards in the past three years including two BAFTAs, a Peabody, a Grierson International documentary award, the Rory Peck Impact Award, three BAFTA Craft Awards and the Prix D’Italia amongst several others.

At Channel 4 she also headed up the long running, award winning foreign affairs series Unreported World commissioning programmes from around the world and working with the team to build its reach on digital platforms.

Previously Nevine held several senior editorial roles at Channel 4 News and it was during this time that she produced the Oscar-nominated For Sama, the multi award-winning feature documentary directed by Waad al-Kateab and Edward Watts.

Nevine has a track record of finding and developing new talent both on and off screen – and executive produced three International Emmy winning programmes from Syria between 2012-2017.  She has also worked extensively as a news producer in the field covering humanitarian disasters, wars and elections for Channel 4 News and Associated Press. She has lived in the US, where she studied journalism at Columbia University in New York and worked at CNN in Washington DC.

Nevine will report to Fiona Campbell, Controller of Youth Audiences and Interim Director of Unscripted.
