CVP Announces Shortlist For Large Format Short Films Competition

CVP has announced the shortlist for the inaugural Large Format Short Films Competition, created in partnership with renowned director and cinematographer Joe Ransom.
10 scripts have now been selected by a dedicated panel from amongst the hundreds of high quality entries the competition received, and the shortlisted entrants will now be invited to a special networking event to be held at the Cooke Gallery and Test Space London in Fitzrovia on June 11.
"We were astounded at both the sheer quantity and quality of the entries the competition received," commented Joe Ransom. "Refining the field to a mere 10 entrants was a monumental task that took most of May to achieve, but we’re delighted with our selections and really look forward to meeting the creatives behind them at Cooke London."
Cooke London is an immersive location where cinematographers can test Cooke lenses alongside the latest camera and lighting equipment. "As a proud sponsor of the Large Format Short Films competition, we’re pleased to host the second stage of the event at our Cooke Gallery and Test Space. We look forward to welcoming the shortlisted filmmakers to Cooke for this important networking opportunity." Carey Duffy, Director of Product Experiences, comments.
The following 10 entries have been shortlisted for the next stage of the competition:
• 89 Keys, Ryan Bloom
• Plant Based, Greg Smart
• There but for, Jonnie Howard
• I Dream of Flight, Neil Westley
• Last Orders, Paddy Earle
• I can't believe it's not better, Alexandra Boulton & Josie Charles
• Roisin & Raela, Savannah Betts
• The woman who was replaced by a cardboard cutout, Thomas Michaelson
• Eye Spy, David Yorke
• Monolith, Joe Warner
The Large Format Short Films Competition is unique as the eventual winner will receive a full production package and individually tailored support from Large Format Films worth over £5,000, a £500 CVP voucher, a screening of their finished film, and much more. Second and third places will receive prizes of a £250 and £150 CVP voucher respectively.
Following the networking event, the team at Large Format Films will shoot a scene from the 10 treatments using Cooke lenses, as well as additional kit from fellow competition sponsors Aputure, Teradek and SmallHD. The grand prize winner along with second and third places will be selected by the judges at a presentation evening in August, with the winning film to be made later this year.
