BBC Named Sports Broadcaster Of The Year

BBC Sport has claimed Sports Broadcaster of the Year at the Broadcast Sports Awards with judges praising how they have 'set the standard of sport broadcasting not just in the UK, but globally'.

Gabby Logan also won the Presenter of the Year award and Clare Balding received the Outstanding Contribution to Sports Broadcasting award.

Michael Johnson, who was part of BBC Sport's coverage at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, was named Pundit of the Year, with Laura Kenny being highly commended in the category. The BBC's coverage of the Women's FA Cup Final (made by Whisper) won Annual Production of the Year; and the BBC’s Olympics coverage in Sport Production of the Year (quadrennial) and There’s Only One Rob Burrow in Sport Documentary up to 60 minutes were also highly commended.

The annual awards celebrate the best sports content on TV and digital platforms – from sports documentaries and live sport production to social media and content creation.

These awards follow hot on the heels of a hugely successful sporting summer across BBC Sport, topped off with record-breaking coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympics Games. BBC Sport’s coverage of the Games was streamed a record 218 million times online, more than doubling the Tokyo Olympic Games total of 104m, with 12.2m people signed into BBC iPlayer accounts to watch coverage.
