Audio Ltd products chosen for major feature

Audio Ltd. products have been used on 'Manderlay', the second instalment of Lars von Trier's trilogy, 'USA: Land of Opportunities', which is nearing completion.
The first instalment, 'Dogville', starred Nicole Kidman and was internationally applauded by critics. Since directing the groundbreaking film, 'Dogme 95', von Trier has earned himself a reputation for having a unique method of working and an unconventional directing style that poses interesting challenges to his cast and crew.
Apparently working on Manderlay is no exception. Ad Stoop, the Sound Recordist for the trilogy, tells us: "Lars believes in shooting the action continuously which means the sound has to be perfect, first time. And because the actors have to be free to move around the stage, the sound spec for this film is quite different. All the actors are wired up to radio mics and the cameras are working on RF too. We used Audio Ltd's RMS 2020 range. 16 radio mics are in continuous use throughout the film.
Ad explains: "There's a lot of RF to negotiate in a studio that's effectively a huge metal box - it's an old Saab factory. The challenges are intensified by having RF monitoring, RF Camera, links and CB radio. So, the main challenge is to keep all the equipment working simultaneously, all the time, with no problems. "The really great thing about Audio's equipment is that I can rely on it to record sound without drop-outs. The 'plug and play' radio mics, as I call them are straightforward to use and 100% reliable," says Ad.
