BBC Studios Productions Appoints New Editor Of The One Show

BBC Studios Productions have appointed Joanne Vaughan-Jones as the new Editor of The One Show.

Emma Morris has also been announced as Executive Editor of BBC Studios' The One Show and Morning Live.

She will succeed Rob Unsworth who left recently to become the BBC's Head of Daytime and Early Peak commissioning.

She will report into Emma Morris, current Editor of Morning Live, who now becomes Executive Editor for both the Manchester-based morning show and The One Show, ensuring a strong synergy remains between the topical magazine programmes as the teams continue to work together and share resources. Morris started at The One Show in 2020 before launching Morning Live that autumn – as well as overseeing its successful move north this year.
Vaughan-Jones will be charged with overseeing the editorial quality of the output and the operational challenges of the BBC Studios production, juggling regular and multiple studio, location, and pre-recorded elements. She will work closely with Unsworth’s Daytime and Early Peak commissioning team and her remit will also include encouraging strong programme ideas that reflect a diverse UK, seeking out opportunities to innovate and find new ways to increase audience engagement.

A BBC stalwart for over 21 years, Vaughan-Jones has worked on some of its biggest programme brands including Watchdog, Panorama Rogue Traders, Stargazing Live, and Crimewatch Roadshow. She also helped launch several successful new factual formats including the award-winning The People Remember. As Executive Producer for Special Events on The One Show for the past three years, she has helmed some of the show’s biggest moments including the week-long coverage of COP 26 in Glasgow and the recent BBC Centenary celebrations – whilst also being credited for developing and launching the programme’s highly successful long running One Big Thank You strand.

Prior to joining BBC Studios in 2020, Morris was at ITV Daytime holding roles including Acting Editor of Loose Women and Deputy Editor of This Morning. A broadcast journalist with a variety of shows under her belt she also spent time at Sky as part of the senior editorial team for 5 News. In addition to her Morning Live role, Morris has also spent the last year working with BBC Studios Factual Entertainment and Events development team on its Talent strategy.

Vaughan-Jones will assume her new role in January, with Michael Armit (Deputy Editor) overseeing Editorial responsibility for The One Show for the interim period.
