Channel 4 Launches New Digital Comedy Series

News Image
Channel 4 has launched a new digital comedy series, 'Jokes Only A…Can Tell', which brings together a diverse range of comedians who tell jokes about their own community – and they won’t be holding back.

This laugh-out-loud, and at times, eye opening series produced by Distant Voices, will see a strong line up of up-and-coming, as well as established comedians from Muslim, Lesbian, Disabled, Jewish and Nigerian communities tell stories and jokes that are all inspired by their personal and shared experiences as well as reflecting on real-world issues and the stigmas they often face.

The five-part series of five-minute shorts launches on Channel 4’s Facebook and Instagram with 'Jokes Only A Muslim Can Tell' on 16th May and will continue weekly.

Digital Commissioning Editor, Charlie Hyland said: "I'm really glad we've been able to work with Distant Voices to create Jokes Only a…Can Tell and I hope audiences really enjoy the comedy as well as being left with some food for thought. This series is giving both a voice to a range of underrepresented communities, as well as providing a platform for up-and-coming comedians to have a voice."

Celia Taylor, Exec Producer for Distant Voices said: "It's been brilliant to work with so much incredible and burgeoning talent and give them a safe place to share their stories and personal experiences through comedy."

'Jokes Only A... Can Tell' is produced by Distant Voices, Exec Produced by Celia Taylor and the Series Producer is Rohan Acharya. It was commissioned by Charlie Hyland for Channel 4.
