NEW DEPUTY CHAIR FOR CRAC APPOINTED

THE RT. Revd. Graham James, The Bishop of Norwich, has been appointed Deputy Chair of CRAC (the Central Religious Advisory Committee).
The Committee advises the BBC, the ITC and the Radio Authority on religious broadcasting policy and comments on programmes which have been broadcast. CRAC is chaired by the Roman Catholic Bishop of East Anglia, Peter Smith and meets twice a year, in June and November.
Bishop Graham James was born in 1951 in Cornwall. He was educated at Northampton Grammar School, the University of Lancaster and Oxford University, where he did his theological training. He was ordained in Peterborough in 1975 and later worked in Welwyn Garden City as a team vicar. He then moved to Church House, Westminster where he had responsibility for overseeing the selection procedures for candidates for ordination in the Church of England. In 1987, he was appointed as Chaplain to the Archbishop of Canterbury. He was consecrated Bishop of St Germans, in Cornwall in 1993 and in 1999 was enthroned as Bishop of Norwich.
