DPI introduces fully integrated DLP cinema projector

Digital Projection International (DPI), an Emmy Award-winning manufacturer of high-performance projection systems, has announced the launch of the iS8-2K, the world’s smallest fully integrated, DC-2K based DLP Cinema projector.
The new iS8-2K is designed specifically for smaller-sized cinema screens in auditoriums and for post-production. In fact, representatives of post-production companies who attended private screenings held by DPI in February have praised the new projector’s size, weight and overall performance.
The iS8-2K employs many of the same features available in the iS15-2K, which DPI launched in February. This includes a lamp house module that allows for a lamp to be safely replaced by a trained user, currently the status quo in 35-millimeter commercial cinema.
“Along with the iS15-2K, the iS8-2K is a fully-integrated DC-2K DLP Cinema projector which features many advancements, such as a much smaller and lighter chassis that meets the challenging demand of limited space in projector booth,” said Peter Nicholas, DPI’s Director of Cinema Sales and Marketing for North and South America. “These innovative projectors confirm the commitment by both Digital Projection International and NEC Viewtechnology to the digital cinema initiative.”
Like the iS15-2K, the iS8-2K also employs an adjustable lamp power supply, rendering the projector an ideal solution for matching projector brightness to exacting post-production, screening room and commercial cinema requirements. Also, the versatile Multi-Media Switcher 1000 (MMS 1000) enables the iS8-2K to display any content—from live concerts and sporting events to computer presentations and DVD-based material.
