McGraw-Hill opt for €2.6m Grass Valley DNPS upgrade

Thomson has received a €2.6m order from the McGraw-Hill Broadcasting Company to upgrade the news departments of its four ABC-affiliated television stations with Grass Valley brand Digital News Production Solutions (DNPS) equipment.
The move is part of McGraw Hill’s effort to streamline news programme production via a virtually tapeless and shared digital environment.
With nearly 65 new systems valued at nearly €44 million in 2003 alone, the Grass Valley line of digital news products is expected to double in growth in 2004. Additionally, Thomson is enjoying repeat business for the popular line from customers who are realising remarkable capital and workflow efficiencies. These media leaders include ABC, CNBC, Canal 1, TV Amazonas, the European Parliament, Media General Broadcast, NBC, SBS Korea, and the World Wrestling Entertainment.
The Grass Valley DNPS systems from Thomson will help McGraw-Hill realise cost and operational benefits that were impossible with its existing tape-based system. It will also give the broadcasting company workflow advantage of standardising its news departments on the same platforms.
