SGRIN APPOINT NEW HEAD OF PRODUCTION
SGRIN, the media agency for Wales, have announced the appointment of Judith Higginbottom as their new Head of Production.
Until her appointment she was Chief Executive of Bristol-based South West Media Development where she was responsible for all aspects of film and media development, including film production and distribution, television and new media productions.
Sgrin’s Chief Executive, Berwyn Rowlands, said: “Judith is joining us at an exciting time for film in Wales. Sgrin will soon take on responsibility for lottery film funding in Wlaes and at the same time we have the assurance of National Assembly backing for the establishment of a film fund for Wales, which will mean a huge boost for the sector.”
Born in Stockport, Chesire, Higginbottom spent her youth between Anglesey and Manchester. She studied fine art film-making at Trent Polytechnic and Reading University. On leaving university, she worked as an independent artist and film-maker, exhibiting in galleries and cinemas.
In the mid-eighties, she joined South West Arts as Film and Television Officer, where she remained until her appointment to South West Media Development in 1996. (CD)
