Graham Norton signs up to work on BBC formats

Graham Norton has signed to BBC Television in an exclusive two and half year UK deal to work on new formats for BBC One.
Graham Norton will be joining the BBC in April 2004 to work on ideas for a Saturday night slot.
Lorraine Heggessey, Controller BBC ONE, said: "We've made no secret of our admiration of Graham and I'm thrilled that he feels that BBC One can offer him the space to grow creatively.
"I'm convinced he will delight viewers of all ages at the heart of the Saturday night schedule."
Jane Lush, BBC Controller of Entertainment Commissioning, added: "It's been my ambition to work with Graham ever since I took on the entertainment role and that's been no secret.
"We've spent a lot of time and effort wooing Graham to the BBC and I'm delighted that the deal we've put in place for him suits us both so well."
Graham Norton first found fame as a stand-up comic in London and playing the ultra-enthusiastic Father Noel Furlong in 'Father Ted'.
In 1997 he was given his own show by Channel 4 which now runs five nights a week.
He has been critically acclaimed, winning numerous awards including four BAFTAs, six British Comedy Awards, a National TV Award and an International Emmy.
