Modern VideoFilm purchase two NorthLight scanners

Modern VideoFilm, a leading Los Angeles postproduction facility, have purchased two Northlight film scanners from UK company FilmLight.
The Northlight scanners will be housed in a newly-built suite at the company’s Glendale Digital Cinema facility, where they will be first used in Digital Intermediate processes on upcoming feature films 'I, Robot' for Twentieth Century Fox and 'Imaginary Heroes' for Signature Pictures. The Northlight scanners will augment the company’s existing datacine equipment.
Modern VideoFilm President and CEO, Moshe Barkat, said: “The trend with our studio clients is to push for higher and higher resolution scans which go well beyond what datacine equipment can handle. Also, because we work with visual effects companies, we have a growing need for pin registered transfers. The Northlight allows us to address both of these requirements. It had always piqued our interest – the mechanical concepts behind it are solid and innovative, and it can deliver the 6K scans our clients need.”
FilmLight Commercial Director, Peter Stothart, said: “Every year, more films take advantage of Digital Intermediate processes.
