Timeline TV Delivers For Hacienda Classical

Timeline Television has delivered full post-production on two versions of a Hacienda Classical documentary for Channel 4 and Sony.

The documentary follows organisers Peter Hook, Mike Pickering and Graeme Park as they attempt to reinvent house music with the Manchester Camerata – a 70-piece classical orchestra.

Stephen Chapman produced the documentary, alongside executive producer Rob McLoughlin OBE and director Chris Cowey. The director of photography was Tighe Grainger and post-production was handled by Timeline North, MediaCityUK. It was edited by David Jackson.

The grade, by DI colourist Trevor Brown, was completed using DaVinci Resolve with the Blackmagic control surface, at Timeline's post facility in MediaCityUK. It involved nine types of camera formats across four varied locations, and two different versions of the show.

The audio was mixed in Avid Pro Tools 11 by dubbing mixers Richard Lee and Dan Piggott. In addition to mixing the broadcast sound, Richard provided the music mix for both documentaries. This offered the production team flexibility, giving them the opportunity to fine-tune the music mix against the final picture cut.

This was a complex project involving a great deal of varied media – yet the offline, online, grade and dub were all seamless."

Hacienda House Orchestra will air on Channel 4 on Thursday, 20 October.
