RAI make substantial investment in generationQ

The Italian state broadcaster RAI has offered a ringing endorsement of Quantel’s generationQ graphics products in a major re-equipping of its graphics facilities.
Three QPaintbox Pro and three QPaintbox units have been installed in its broadcast centre in the Saxa Rubra area just north of Rome; while another three QPaintbox units and a gQ have been purchased for use at the company’s Via Salaria facility and broadcast production centre, also located on the outskirts of the Eternal City.
The two different configurations chosen by the two RAI structures underline the Quantel strategy of providing a family of dedicated graphics products for broadcast video design and close-to-air work that customers can assemble into a pipeline that suits their own particular needs. To this end, generationQ for graphics is highly scaleable - from desktop with QPaintbox up to HD with gQ - future-proof, easy to use with a common interface to boost creative workflow and teamworking in a totally integrated environment, and easily integrated with existing PC, Mac and Unix systems.
“We are expecting a great many things from these new Quantel products,” commented Daniele Cerioni, head of the graphic department at RAI CSS2 Roma, who has taken delivery of the gQ and QPaintbox units. “The three QPaintbox workstations will be used by many art directors, on a double shift, in order to produce a seamless workflow of graphic contributions, signature tunes, promos, trailers, stings, jingles and, in general, video design. At the same time gQ will be especially engaged on high-end special effects. We want to increase the creative power of our graphics departments, especially for some important primetime broadcasts and more.”
