Society of Film Distributors reveal their new name and website

The Society of Film Distributors (SFD) have completed their re-imaging process and announced their name change and newly established website.
The SFD, the trade association that represents theatrical distributors in the UK, has now been repackaged as the Film Distributors Association (FDA).
The new website launchingfilms.com contains a generic guide to UK film distribution offering insights into how distributors release and market new films to mobilise the broadest possible cinema audience.
The website will also include a weekly schedule of forthcoming UK releases, a calendar of industry events, a 'talking-point' piece on digital piracy and links to many other film industry outlets.
FDA President Frank Pierce said: "We hope the new guide to distribution, will contribute to a wider appreciation of film distributors' essential role in attracting audiences. The majority of cinemagoers know which film they want to see before they arrive at the box-office – thanks mainly to the distributors' marketing skills – and a successful theatre launch breeds further success during a film's release cycle on video, DVD and TV."
The organisation has 13 member companies, which released 197 films in 12 different countries over the past year.
